I Ron ically I saw a woman that they did a report on did quit her job and took over a animal kill shelter and reduced her kill right from almost 90% down to < 10% so this can be done if the right person is in charge

I have no doubt that some in the kill movement would have no problem doing the same with children. Based on what I have seen, many people are terrible. To strike at the root of the problem is not to legislate the no kill movement, it is to work on the reasons why pets in up in shelters in the first place. That is a harder task, but a greater change would be implemented and many more animals saved. While I support you in general, you are definitely smart enough to know that the root of the problem is the owners and not the killing in the shelters. From my own rescue experience, I would guess 100s of animals suffer for each 1 killed in the shelter. Prevention/education before they ever get to the shelter would truly be going after the root of the problem. If only we could get some big forces on that side of the equation. Someday I hope.
I can’t stop the tears from reading this….and “we” as a species call ourselves “humane”? I live near NYC for all of my life. Had zero clue how bad things were there until several years ago. They call themselves a “no kill” shelter system yet every single week, hundreds of animals are brutally slaughtered. I’m so disgusted and disappointed with the human race right now-not to mention angry.
I know this is so true, I hate to admit I usually scroll through. I don't know why I stopped to read this. I won't anymore. This is so heart breaking I will be crying all day. I don't know what the answer is but possible do back ground checks on any one that wants a pet. I can't handle this stuff especially because it makes my depression worse. So many people do not deserve pets. I'm sorry babies, I pray you all do go to heaven. 😔😥😭
