When we promote local pet shop ordinances in my state, we not only focus on the culture in the municipality as promoting adoption and rescue, but we make it clear people can still get an animal from a reputable breeder of their choices as a direct transaction so we are not taking away choice (an argument often made by the AKC against these laws). We also present them as consumer protection laws and point to CDC studies about transmission of disease from pet shop puppies to people.

Horrific -- the despicable evidence is there -- over and over we find this horror to be true -- so, we MUST keep up this fight to BAN all puppy mills.
Terrible. This is a fight that can be won with pressure laws and exposure.
